El Farolito in Placentia, CA: What to Expect

Nestled in the old town historic neighborhood of Placentia is an iconic Mexican restaurant known as El Farolito.

El Farolito has been around for decades, started by the Sandoval family in 1974. It’s best known for its homestyle Mexican food and warm, neighborhood charm.

During the pandemic, the parking lot expanded to accommodate a large tent for outdoor seating. It seems this new addition is permanent.

The salsa and chips here are delicious. The salsa has a good kick to it.

Some of the most popular items on the menu here:

  • Chile Relleno

  • Enchiladas

  • Arroz con Pollo

Most entrees here come with rice and beans. Personally, I’m a big fan of their beans a la olla (a different style from refried beans).

Parking can be a little difficult during peak hours but it’s worth the wait for some of the best Mexican food in Orange County.
