There’s a war memorial at the edge of the park with a Marine statue and flagpole.

In the weeks leading up to Memorial Day, Castaways Park is transformed into a Field of Honor. 1776 American flags are planted by the Exchange Club of Newport Harbor throughout the park. This makes for a nice leisurely stroll and a chance to reflect on the sacrifices made by folks in the armed services.

Castaways Park is home to several dozen California native plants. There is a sign at the entrance to the park with more detailed information.
